EEOC sues Vonage

Controversy is chasing Vonage all the way. While, the VoIP pioneer is trying hard to get rid of Verizon furor, yet another controversy has resurfaced to haunt the company.
The recent lawsuit filed by U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the Federal court in Newark shows some serious internal problems persist in the Vonages management level.
According to an AP story, which Andy linked in his blog, highlights the practice of religious discrimination by Vonage.
The AP story reads like this, Vonage ill-treated a Jewish employee, Mikhail Rozenberg. He was not allowed to take part in a compulsory six-day training program as he had to miss time to observe Jewish holidays in fall 2005.
Vonage further ignored Rozenbergs plea for a schedule where he did not work on Saturdays in order to observe the Sabbath. Rozenberg, who was appointed as technical service, was ultimately sacked showing the reason that he was not fit for job because of his religion and could get the job only when he gives up his religion.
It is a burning example of unethical practice by a reputed company like Vonage. if the company does not take it seriously, I suspect the employees will lose confidence on the company.
