eBay puts Skype in Auction Alerting System

Now, eBay customers can receive alerts regarding their buying and selling on their desktops via Skype instant messenger. The auctioneer has just integrated its VoIP start-up, Skype into its auction alerting system.

eBay has already integrated a list of IM clients such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo to alert its customers about their activities at the auction site.

The customers who are using Skype 3.1 or more advanced versions can access eBays newly launched alert service that reminds customer 15 minutes before a listing in My eBay is about to end, confirms eBay. This service is available in USA.

eBay acquired Skype for US$2.6bn in 2005 and introduced Skype buttons in certain listings on the US site in June 2006 allowing buyers to reach out to sellers through the Skype communications system.
