20 percent of US business enterprises embrace VoIP

In its latest report, the research firm In-Stat claims that nearly 20 percent of US business enterprises are currently using VoIP technology and two-thirds of business units will have some form of VoIP service by 2011.

No doubt, VoIP is a money-saving tool for a business enterprise with remote workforces where communication process is solely dependent upon the long distance calls. Perhaps, it is one of the reasons for the growing popularity of VoIP technology in the corporate world.

The report further says multiple VoIP solutions are utilized by more than 36 percent of business and 14 percent of US business have at least some workers who use voice-enabled IM for business purposes.

David Lemelin, an analyst at In-Stat opines,

As people become more savvy with VOIP options and as the Generation Y worker enters the work force, they will be very comfortable with multiple VOIP options.

However the report adds that the US businesses are not replacing their traditional voice lines entirely despite embracing VoIP with 44 percent of all businesses’ voice lines to remain TDM.
