Skype has just announced a beta release of Skype 2.7 version for Mac adding a host of cooling features in it.

Since the new version is in testing stage, there might be some bugs. Don’t worry. Skype will take care that.

DirecTV goes VoIP


DirecTV has will provide its customers VoIP and high speed broadband services in the coming days, most probably next year. For which, the California-based satellite TV broadcaster has reached out an agreement with Current Group, the provider of Broadband Over Powerline (BPL) internet services. However, the financial details of the deal are not disclosed by both the companies.

VoIP hacker imprisoned


Spokane, Washington-based Robert Moore who made millions of dollars from illegal VoIP business has been sentenced two years imprisonment and fined $150,000.

The 23-year old hacker was successful in hacking VoIP networks of some of the leading service providers. He developed generic software to run brute-force attacks against Cisco XM routers and Quintum Tenor voice gateways.

EU envisages for a super telecom regulator

After reducing mobile roaming charges by 75 percent for European customers, the European Union (EU) has now moved up to introduce new rules to liberalize local telecom market from former EU phone monopolies.

Security experts have traced new security threats of VoIP technology. They claim that software used for VoIP can be used by hackers to get into the data network and steal information.

Vonage substantially completes workarounds of Verizon patents

Skype adds video functionality in 3.5 version


Express yourself. If you are a Skype user and using 3.5 Skype-windows version, you can express your moods to others. Skype has just updated the latest version with video functionality in collaboration with Metacafe and DailyMotion.

It means that the users can download various types of videos from these sites and integrate them into their Skype profiles.

eBay puts Skype in Auction Alerting System


Now, eBay customers can receive alerts regarding their buying and selling on their desktops via Skype instant messenger. The auctioneer has just integrated its VoIP start-up, Skype into its auction alerting system.

eBay has already integrated a list of IM clients such as AOL, MSN, Yahoo to alert its customers about their activities at the auction site.
